ਜਿਉ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਾਣੀਐ
ਕਿਉ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਪਾਵੈ।।
ਬੂੰਦ ਵਿਹੂਣਾ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕੋ
ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵੈ।
ਨਾਦ ਕੁਰੰਕਹਿ ਬੇਧਿਆ
ਸਨਮੁਖ ਉਠਿ ਧਾਵੈ।।
ਭਵਰੁ ਲੋਭੀ ਕੁਸਮ ਬਾਸੁ ਕਾ
ਮਿਲਿ ਆਪੁ ਬੰਧਾਵੈ।।
ਤਿਉ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹੈ
ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਅਘਾਵੈ।। ੧੨ ।।

Jio machhali bin paniye

kyu jeevan pavey.

Boond vihuna chatriko

kyu kar triptavey.

Nad kurankeh bedhya

sanmukh uth dhavey.

Bhawar lobhi kusum baas ka

mil aap bandhavey.

Tio sant jana hari preet hai

dekh daras aghavey. 12.

Like the fish without water

Cannot even think of life.

Without the drop of rain

The chatrik can never be satisfied.

The deer intoxicated with the sound

Rushes straight into the hunter’s net.

The bee greedy of the fragrance

Falls into the lap of the flower.

Similarly the seekers love the Lord

They are satisfied only when they see Him.
