ਕੁਬੁਧਿ ਚਵਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਿਤੁ ਠਾਇ।।
ਕਿਉ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਇ।।
ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਾਧੇ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਰਾਖੈ।।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਪਤਿ ਸਾਖੈ।।
ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਪਾਵੈ ਪਾਰੁ।।
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਨ ਬੁਝੈ ਗਵਾਰੁ।।੫੫।।

Kubudh chavaavey so kitt thaaye.
Kyun tatt na bhoojhey chota khaaye.
Jamm dar baadhey koye na raakhey.
Bin shabadey naahi patt saakhey.
Kyun kar boojhey paavey paar.
Nanak manmukh na bujhey gavaar. 55.

कुबुध चवावै सो कित ठाए।।
क्यों तत न बूझै चोटां खाए।।
जम दर बाधे कोए न राखै।।
बिन सबदै नाही पत साखै।।
क्यों कर बुझै पावै पार।।
नानक मनमुख न बुझै गवार।। 55।।

Question: What is the fate of the ignorant person who talks nonsense?
Answer: Without realising the basic truth he suffers pain.
He is imprisoned by death and no one comes to his rescue.
Without Naam he has no respect or honour.
Question: How can such a person find the path to liberation?
Answer: Such a self-willed foolish person refuses to understand.
