ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਸਟ ਸਿਧੀ ਸਭਿ ਬੁਧੀ।।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੀਐ ਸਚ ਸੁਧੀ।।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਰ ਅਪਸਰ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ।।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਵਿਰਤਿ ਨਰਵਿਰਤਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ।।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਾਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੇ।।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ।।੩੧।।

Gurmukh ashat sidhi sabh budhi.
Gurmukh bhavjal tareeye sach sudhi.
Gurmukh sar apsar bidhi jaaney.
Gurmukh parvirat narvirat pachhaney.
Gurmukh taarey paar utaarey.
Nanak gurmukh shabad nistaarey. 31.

गुरमुख असट सिधी सभ बुधी।।
गुरमुख भवजल तरीऐ सच सुधी।।
गुरमुख सर अपसर बिधि जाणै।।
गुरमुख परविरत नरविरत पछाणै।।
गुरमुख तारे पार उतारे।।
नानक गुरमुख सबद निसतारे।। 31।।

The gurmukh obtains the spiritual powers2 and all wisdom.
The gurmukh crosses the ocean with true knowledge.
The gurmukh distinguishes between the true and the false.
The gurmukh discrminates between attachment and detachment.
Helped by the Guru, he crosses the ocean and ferries others along.
His secret is that he listens to the all-pervasive Naam.
