ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭੂਲੈ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ।।
ਪਰ ਘਰੁ ਜੋਹੈ ਹਾਣੈ ਹਾਣਿ।।
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭਵੈ ਬੇਬਾਣਿ।।
ਵੇਮਾਰਗਿ ਮੂਸੈ ਮੰਤ੍ਰਿ ਮਸਾਣਿ।।
ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਚੀਨੈ ਲਵੈ ਕੁਬਾਣਿ।।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਜਾਣਿ।।੨੬।।

Manmukh bhooley jamm ki kaan.
Par ghar johey haaney haan.
Manmukh bharam bhavey bebaan.
Vemarag moosey mantar masaan.
Shabad na cheeney lavey kubaan.
Nanak saach ratey sukh jaan. 26.

मनमुख भूलै जम की काण।।
पर घर जोहै हाणै हाण।।
मनमुख भरमे भवै बेबाण।।
वेमारग मूसै मँत्र मसाण।।
सबद न चीनै लवै कुबाण।।
नानक साच रते सुख जाण।। 26।।

Manmukh has gone astray and is a slave of death
He is in the service of the false, an unsound investment bound to fail.
He goes round and round in circles and lands in bewilderment.
He is like the yogi chanting mantras in the cemetry liable to be robbed.
He knows not the Naam and talks incoherently.
Whereas it is so easy to follow the Guru’s word and rejoice.
