ਪਵਣੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਧਰਤਿ ਮਹਤੁ ।।
ਦਿਵਸੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਦੁਇ ਦਾਈ ਦਾਇਆ ਖੇਲੈ ਸਗਲ ਜਗਤੁ ।।
ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ਬੁਰਿਆਈਆ ਵਾਚੈ ਧਰਮੁ ਹਦੂਰਿ ।।
ਕਰਮੀ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਕੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਕੇ ਦੂਰਿ ।।
ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਗਏ ਮਸਕਤਿ ਘਾਲਿ ।।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਕੇਤੀ ਛੁਟੀ ਨਾਲਿ ।। ੧ ।।

Pavan guru pani pita mata dharat mahat.
Diwas raat doi dayee daaya kheley sagal jagat.

Changiyaayeean buriyaayeean vachey dharam hadur.

Karmi aapo apni ke nere ke dur.

पवण गुरू पाणी पिता माता धरत महत।।

All creatures play in the cradle
Where air is the guru
Water is the father, earth the mother
Day and night are the nurses.
Somewhere all the actions are recorded
The good and bad accordingly rewarded
A place is granted as per your deeds
Which may be near or far from the Creator
Those who are absorbed in Naam
They achieve the purpose of their life
They return with glowing countenances
And with them ferry many others along.
