ਜਤੁ ਪਾਹਾਰਾ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਸੁਨਿਆਰੁ ।।
ਅਹਰਣਿ ਮਤਿ ਵੇਦੁ ਹਥੀਆਰੁ ।।
ਭਉ ਖਲਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਤਪ ਤਾਉ ।।
ਭਾਂਡਾ ਭਾਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਢਾਲਿ ।।
ਘੜੀਐ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੀ ਟਕਸਾਲ ।।
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਤਿਨ ਕਾਰ ।।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ।। ੩੮ ।।

Jat pahara dheeraj suniyar.
Ahran mat ved hathiyar.
Bhao khala agan tap tao.
Bhanda bhao amrit tit dhal.
Gharheeye sabad sachi taksal.
Jin ko nadar karam tin kar.

Like the goldsmith puts the gold in fire
To mould it into the shape of an ornament
Likewise the mind and body
Have to be chiseled in the same fashion.
Using the mind as anvil, and knowledge as hammer
Filling nectar in the vessel of love
Thus the true coin can be minted.
Even so, all the effort is not enough
If the divine grace is missing.
He who has the divine blessings
Sails through these stages effortlessly.
