ਭੁਖਿਆ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਉਤਰੀ ਜੇ ਬੰਨਾ ਪੁਰੀਆ ਭਾਰ ।।
ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਲਖ ਹੋਹਿ ਤ ਇਕ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਨਾਲਿ ।।

I cannot grasp you through my mind

Even if I think a hundred thoughts

I cannot silence the chattering of the mind

Even if I vow never to speak again.

Just as any number of thoughts of food

Cannot satisfy the pangs of hunger

Similarly all wisdom is of no use

When it comes to knowing you.
