ਕਾਹੇ ਰੇ ਬਨ ਖੋਜਨ ਜਾਈ।।
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਸਦਾ ਅਲੇਪਾ
ਤੋਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਈ।। ੧ ।। ਰਹਾਉ।।

Kahey re bann khojan jaayi.

Sarab nivaasi sada alepa

Tohi sang samayi. 1. Rahao.

Why go to the forest looking for Him?

He who  lives everywhere and remains hidden is there with you always.

ਪੁਹਪ ਮਧਿ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਸੁ ਬਸਤੁ ਹੈ
ਮੁਕਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਛਾਈ।।
ਤੈਸੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਬਸੇ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ
ਘਟ ਹੀ ਖੋਜਹੁ ਭਾਈ।। ੧ ।।

Puhap madh jio baas basat hai

Mukar mahe jaise chhaayi.

Taise hee Hari basey nirantar

Ghat hee khojoh bhai

Just as fragrance resides in a flower

Just as reflection stays in a mirror

In the same manner He lives continuously.

Look for Him inside you.

ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੀਤਰ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਨਹੁ
ਇਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਬਤਾਈ।।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨ ਆਪਾ ਚੀਨੈ
ਮਿਟੈ ਨ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕੀ ਕਾਈ।। ੨ ।।

Bahar bhitar eko jaanoh

Eh gur gyan batai.

Know Him to be inside and outside simultaneously, the Guru has made it clear.
